After years of being slightly underweight, I’ve finally put on 20 lbs. Unfortunately, I earned the extra weight through a steady collegiate diet of beer and pizza. I’ve never had breasts before (they’re now a B) but I love them, as well as my new hips.
It’s just that I can’t STAND my “beer belly”. I’ve cut down dramatically on drinking and fast food, but I think I’ll need more than just a diet change to get rid of the belly fat.

unfortunately, fat distribution is automatically done by the body.. there isn’t a way to keep good fat (breasts) and lose the bad fat (stomach). but, what i’d offer up is this. love who you are… no matter what shape your breasts are or your new curves… be fit. exercise and keep a good attitude towards whatever you have going in your life…

Okay, so I have been dieting and have lost about 15 pounds so far. I’m 5 foot 6 and weight 200lbs. All of my weight is concentrated in my gut. I have seen a differnce in my face as I lost the weight, but what is the best way to lose my beer belly? I have been doing sit-ups but as i have read, they won’t shrink your gut until you lose the fat around it. So is there a way to target beer belly fat?
I know what you are talking about. I gained about 35-40 lbs when my wife was pregnant and then stopped excersizing for the first year of my childs life due to fatigue and the fact i wanted to hang out with my son all the time. This past year it was my goal to run a marathon and lose weight and I will achieve that goal this December and have already lost 30 lbs while training for it. But I still have a little gut left .
Its the last area that goes away, I lost the extra chin fat, arm fat and dropped a few pant sizes in the process but I still have the little extra down there. You just have to stick to eating healthy and excersize. Dont listen to people that say “Dont Drink beer” or “Dont eat ice cream” i think its better if you do reward yourself everyonce in a while so that you dont drive yourself crazy.
I went to St. louis for a “guys trip” and saw a cards/Cubs game, 49ers/Rams game, Budweiser tour, bar and strip club tour and came back only gaining 3 lbs, but I had a great time and was ready to get back to eating healthy and working out. It was a vacation.

I exercise regularly 4 or 5 days a week ( kickboxing, running, and wieght training) but still have a beer belly.
Your body has no metabolic need for alcohol, thus, 100% of the alcohol has to be burned off before your body can burn body fat from teh other excercise you are doing. Also, alcohol slows your metabolism and is second only to pure fat in terms of caloric density (7 cal per gram I believe.)
So yeah, I love beer too (proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy) but you have to cut back if you want to see those abs.
Make sure your excercise is a structured program, spread your daily calories out to six meals per day, and avoid bread, pasta and sugar. Stick to lean meats, nuts and seeds, vegetables, some fruit, some starch, no processed sugar.
Here’s how to do the beer. Go to spartafit.com and figure out your daily caloric needs for loosing a pound a week. Keep exercising. Work the beer into your dinner on Monday and Wednesday, but only one each night. Then, on Saturday night, give yourself a cheat meal. Eat your big steak and have three or four beers and don’t worry about it. But only that one night per week.
Hey, its a compromise. But it should allow you to loose that gut without totally loosing the beer.
i’m skinny all over, skinny arms, legs, chest, everything, except my belly, its a defiante “beer belly” kind of thing. I’ve started lifting weights and drinking protein shakes to build up my arms, and thought about running to lose the weight on my stomach but im scared that running will make me lose weight on my arms too.
is there a good way to build my arms and chest while doing something else that will lose my stomach fat but not lose so much weight everywhere else?
this is the problem that most people have and I understand your fear. you should think of going for colon cleansing which will help remove all the old food stuff stuck in your stomach. as yor grow up and continue to eat everything, especially foods considered as unhealthy, they end up building up in your stomach permanently, making it buldge unnecessary. beer is also known to contribute to that proble.
so you should discontinue taking beer if you are serious and take it only during special occassions. sugar is also not good and instead of sugar, go for sweetners and also reduce on calories. reduce your portions drastically also. have good breakfast say with corn flakes, 2 eggs and skim milk and an apple and take very little lunch. includec a lot of vegetables such as green salad and fruits in your meal intake and i can assure with time you will notice the difference. remember patience pays… Rome was not built in one day.
